Fabulously Fermented

VERY brief impressions on beers I've been lucky enough to encounter
Edmund Fitzgerald
Porter (Great Lakes Brewing Co., Cleveland OH)
Excellent
Pours black with about a one-inch head. Aroma is of coffee roast, smoke, raisins…maybe some plums. This smells great, but tastes even better! Those smokey roasted notes I got in the nose are even more profound on the tongue.
This beer is amazingly balanced at the same time it’s intensely flavorful. There’s no real bitterness yet the sweetness is not overbearing in any way. The mouthfeel is perfect too. Damn…really really well made. Top notch. I knew this beer would be good but it really hit the spot tonight! [PN]
